“Start Children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Over the past years, the focus has been to create a nurturing space where children can truly embrace God’s Word and grow in faith. By God’s grace, around 220 children stepped into Sunday School in 2026, eager to learn more about Christ and to grow in faith. Based on their age, the children are grouped into Tiny Tots, Beginner, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior classes. Leading the ministry are the Superintendent, Mrs. Christumathi Stalin, the Convenor, Mr. Melwin Samuel, and over 30 dedicated teachers and volunteers, all of whom serve faithfully and enthusiastically in guiding the children.

St. Paul’s Church Sunday School (March 2026)

.
Every Sunday, the Sunday School begins at 9:00 AM with a 30-minute General Session, during which the children come together for singing, skits, and storytelling. Following this, they proceed to their individual classes, where teachers lead them until 10:30 AM. During this time, our teachers teach the 10 to 15 lessons prepared by the Diocese, retelling stories, learning memory verses, and tackling workbook activities together. On the first Sunday of every month, the children remain in church for worship. This helps them understand that they are an integral part of the congregation and teaches them the importance of worshipping together as one body in Christ.

Special events as part of the Sunday School Ministry:

  • To encourage the spirit of giving, the Sunday School actively participates in the Mission Sale and Harvest Festival by setting up stalls, with all proceeds donated to the church.
  • In 2025, the school organised exclusive stalls on the first week of every month, with the proceeds getting donated towards the reconstruction of St. Paul’s church. We lovingly put together ஆசீர்வாத தட்டு (Blessing Plate) for the Harvest Festival, adding to our contribution. An additional year-end contribution towards the church reconstruction was also made.
  • As part of Children’s Month, one Sunday is dedicated to Children’s Sunday. The children stepped forward to lead the congregation with grace on this Sunday. Following this, they also attended a Children’s Retreat organised exclusively for them.
  • Along with the teachers, they participate in the Children’s Rally conducted annually by the Diocese. In 2025, a team of children from the Senior class proudly secured 2nd place in the quiz competition.
  • The Beginner class that excelled in the Peter Cochran Exams, securing 2nd place. It is truly heartwarming to witness that the children grow not only in faith but also in knowledge and confidence.
  • During Christmas, the children present dances, plays and songs joyfully celebrating the birth of our Saviour.
  • In the Diocesan year-end examinations, the St. Paul’s Sunday School children secured the first three places honourably.

Looking ahead, God will continue to bless the Sunday School ministry by strengthening the teachers and volunteers, who will help every child to grow more in wisdom, faith, and in the love of Christ. May the seeds sown today bear fruit for His Kingdom in the years to come.
